Quick Tip

To make the ground oatmeal, put about $ cup (180 ml) old-fashioned “grocery-store” variety oatmeal into a food processor and process until the oats are of a powderlike consistency.

To use:

1. Soak your feet for at least 10 to 15 minutes or until your calluses are soft, but not until your feet are “pruny.”

2. Very gently scrub your calluses and corns with the pumice stone or file just until the top layer of tough dead skin has been removed.

3. Rinse, then roughly dry with a coarse towel.

4. Apply a heavy cream and put on socks.

Caution: Diabetics, many of whom suffer from circulatory disorders and cannot feel whether the water temperature is too hot or cold, should not soak their feet. Additionally, if the skin gets too soft as a result of soaking, pre-ulcerations can occur, especially between the toes in the web spaces.
